Bells are the currency used in the Animal Crossing series. They are used to buy things from Nook's and Crazy Redd's, amongst other things. You can only carry 1,584,999 bells at one time, 99,999 where they're shown in you bag, and the rest in 15 99,000 sacks filling your item slots.
